Why Do We Do This?

I’m going to guess that just about everyone reading this is one of the FCA Endurance faithful.  Whether you’ve been racing in the colors since 2005 or were recently drawn to our ministry, at some point you felt compelled to boldly race for Jesus as a part of our Team.  As you’ve done that, the Lord has continued to bless our collective and individual efforts, and I just wanted to take a minute to reflect and encourage you regarding, “Why FCA Endurance?”

This is a big question, and for brevity, I won’t attempt to cover it all in this article.  That said, I do want to take you back to the moment when the Lord spoke to you about why you should be a part of what He has called our ministry to do.  Please, take a moment and think about that.

Maybe it focused on the question, “Why Do You Race?  Is it all about you, or is there something deeper, something much bigger than yourself worth all the sacrifice?  Perhaps there was a longing to make a difference for eternity through this passion called sport.  Maybe it was an opportunity to invite someone you know who is hurting and lost to meet or grow with Jesus?  Maybe it was a desire for Christ’s community, Jesus’ Church and a love for the people within the community you are a part of?  Perhaps it is a little of all these and a bit more?

FCA Endurance’s vision is to see the endurance world impacted for Jesus Christ through the influence of athletes and coaches.  Through YOU!  While I don’t need to remind you, I will… that our community, the endurance world, so badly needs to hear about Jesus.  The very nature of the people we’re trying to reach… “successful” by most standards, way too busy for non-endurance relationships, and usually completely oblivious of their need for a Savior, make our mission critical.  Now!  The Lord has put us in a position to reach athletes that perhaps no one else can.  What a responsibility.  What an opportunity!

And so, think about why the Lord drew to be a part of His plan in FCA Endurance.  As you plan out 2010, be intentional.  Get United.  Get Equipped!  Impact!

In closing, I simply urge you to read the article below from Omaha Teammate Nancy Lennarson, "Appointment with an Angle."  May it speak to you as it did Nancy and myself.

A late Merry Christmas and Happy New Year’s!
