Do you need volunteers?
It seems that almost as soon as you start getting involved in events, a need for volunteers comes up. Finding volunteers seems to be a race director’s greatest nemesis, and the first thing they’d love to get off their plate by offering it to folks like…YOU!...in exchange for benefits and opportunities you really want, usually.
So great, we can get space at the expo, the chance to do pre-race prayer, a flyer in the race packet, etc., in exchange for volunteers – but WHERE DO WE FIND THE VOLUNTEERS??
After coming up with volunteers for several races during the season, here’s just a few ideas. Unfortunately, all still required lots of phone calls, face-to-face invitations and encouraging/reminding emails. Like us, these folks are busy, too! Fortunately, God not only answered prayers by providing sufficient volunteers for every single race, but He often went far beyond our prayers, either in providing extra volunteers or in giving the volunteers an amazing experience of His Personal work at the race – or both!
Places to seek volunteers:
Your huddle – and their family members (obviously!)
Local FCA staff person and/or their contacts
Local high school FCA groups
Local college FCA groups
Your church’s youth group
Your small group Bible study – and their families
Your huddle members’ churches
The youth groups of your huddle members’ churches
Your huddle members’ small group Bible studies
A church local to the race
The youth group of a church near the race
Boy scouts or girl scouts
Your personal friends
Hope that helps! Thank you for all your hard work out on the fields that are ready for harvest!
In His grip –
Donna (for FCA-E’s Comm Team)
