FCA Endurance teammate has big weekend

FCA Endurance Teammate Paul Schommer finished fifth overall at the 2010 Wisconsin State Nordic Ski Championships held Saturday, February 13, at Nine Mile County Forest in Rib Mountain.

The WI State Championship is a pursuit race where skiers compete in two separate races. Athletes were started at 15 second intervals in the Classic Race Saturday morning and ranked based on finish times to begin the freestyle race that afternoon. Overall standings were determined by the skiers’ combined race times. Team results were determined by the top three finishers from each team.

Paul, a member of the Ashwaubenon High School team, finished sixth in the 5.4k Classic Race and fifth in the 5.4k free-style skate race. With Paul’s efforts, the Ashwaubenon Nordic Boys Team finished second overall in the championship. Paul, a senior at Ashwaubenon, hopes to ski for University of Wisconsin-Green Bay's Nordic Team next year.
